Este proyecto se inscribe dentro del extraordinario proceso de la Convención Constituyente que, a casi dos años del estallido social, tuvo lugar en Chile el 2020. El inicio de un proceso de cambio que se confirma por un masivo deseo de una nueva Constitución, de una nueva carta fundamental, con la esperanza de una nueva manera de vincularse entre chilenos, en su pluralidad, « de manera amable, justa y productiva » (texto de la invitación dirigida a los artistas). Como una manera de apoyar el proceso de la Convención, se invitó a artistas visuales y a escritores para imaginar una portada de una nueva constitución para Chile que luego se recogió en un libro, « Poéticas Constitucionales de los Pueblos de Chile»: « Proponemos producir un libro que recoja las poéticas y la visualidades sugeridas por el propio proceso constituyente y materializadas en los ofrecimientos de ‘Primera página’ y de ´Portada en Blanco’.  Decenas de poetas y artistas visuales hicieron llegar sus sugerencias de Primera Página y de Portada en Blanco, para la nueva Constitución. Lamentablemente, el proyecto de una nueva Constitución Plurinacional fue rechazado y en en Chile sigue rigiendo la Constitución de 1980.

Para mi propuesta de Portada para la Nueva Constitución, trabajé con  el articulo 19, inciso 1° de la Constitución de 1980, « Ni la Ley ni autoridad alguna podrán establecer diferencias arbitrarias ».

This project is part of the extraordinary process of the Constitutional Convention that took place in Chile in 2020, almost two years after the social uprising. The beginning of a process of change that is confirmed by a massive desire for a new Constitution, a new fundamental charter, with the hope of a new way of connecting among Chileans, in their plurality, “in a kind, fair, and productive manner”. As a way to support the process of the Convention, visual artists, and writers were invited to envision a cover for a new constitution for Chile, which were later compiled in a book titled “Constitutional Poetics of the Peoples of Chile.” 

“We propose to produce a book that gathers the poetics and visualities suggested by the constituent process and materialized in the offerings of ‘First Page’ and ‘Blank Cover’.”Dozens of poets and visual artists submitted suggestions for the First Page and Blank Cover for the new Constitution. “That would be the main material for the publication.” (text of the invitation addressed to the artists)

Unfortunately, the project for a new Plurinational Constitution was rejected, and in Chile, the Constitution of 1980 continues to be in effect.

For my proposal for the cover of the New Constitution, I worked with Article 19, paragraph 1 of the 1980 Constitution, “Neither the law nor any authority may establish arbitrary differences”.
